Building Somaliland’s Next Generation of Engineers, Innovators and Industry Leaders.

Architecting a New Era of Higher Education
As Somaliland strives to build a knowledge-based economy, the role of higher education has never been more critical. Employers increasingly seek graduates equipped not only with academic qualifications but also with practical skills, technological expertise and the ability to innovate in a rapidly changing world.
At the forefront of this transformation is Osman Guelleh Farah University (OGF University), led by its President and Vice Chancellor, Dr. Mohamed Guudle, whose vision is reshaping how universities prepare students for the future.
Rather than following traditional academic models alone, OGF University has embraced a modern philosophy that connects education directly with industry, technology and economic development.
Bridging Higher Education with Industry

OGF University’s guiding principle—“Bridging Higher Education with Industry“—defines its approach to teaching and learning.
As part of the Laas Group, one of Somaliland’s leading business conglomerates, the university provides students with valuable exposure to industry, helping bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world application.
This practical approach ensures graduates leave university with both academic knowledge and the professional competencies required by today’s employers.
The university offers future-focused degree programs in:
- Engineering
- Architecture
- Information Technology
- Computer Engineering
- Telecommunications
- Agriculture
- Applied Sciences
By combining theory with practical experience, OGF University aims to produce graduates capable of contributing immediately to Somaliland’s growing economy.
A Landmark International Partnership

One of the university’s most significant milestones came with the establishment of a strategic academic partnership with Haramaya University, one of Ethiopia’s leading public universities.
Following discussions in Hargeisa, the two institutions formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 25 July 2025 at Haramaya University.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Mohamed Guudle, President and Vice Chancellor of OGF University, and Professor Mengistu Urge, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Haramaya University.
The partnership creates new opportunities for regional academic cooperation, including:
- Joint undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs
- Faculty and student exchange initiatives
- Collaborative scientific research
- Community development projects
- Expanded academic opportunities for students in Somaliland
The agreement reflects both institutions’ commitment to strengthening higher education and advancing regional development through academic collaboration.
Preparing Students for Tomorrow’s Economy
Recognizing that learning extends beyond traditional degree programs, OGF University has also developed flexible pathways designed for professionals, entrepreneurs and lifelong learners.
These include:
- 12-Month CEFR-Aligned English Language Program
- Professional Certifications in Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
- Business Leadership
- Entrepreneurship
- Project Management
To accommodate working professionals, courses are available in:
- Morning sessions
- Afternoon sessions
- Evening sessions
This flexible structure enables students to pursue higher education while balancing employment and family responsibilities.
Driving Innovation Through STEM
Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education sits at the center of OGF University’s long-term vision.
Through seminars, workshops and technology-focused events, the university promotes discussions on artificial intelligence, digital transformation and emerging technologies that are reshaping industries across Africa and the world.
By investing in STEM education today, OGF University seeks to help prepare Somaliland’s workforce for tomorrow’s opportunities.
