The Somaliland Electoral Commission has secured consensus on implementing a cutting-edge biometric voting system for the upcoming elections on November 13, 2024. This agreement marks a significant milestone as Somaliland prepares for its ninth election since 2002 and its third simultaneous presidential and parliamentary election.
The new system, known as IRIS BVVS, will deploy advanced iris recognition technology to safeguard the electoral process against fraud and multiple voting. This move is designed to bolster the integrity of the elections, a crucial step amid ongoing political uncertainties.
