GAROWE — A senior Puntland government delegation traveled Monday to the recently liberated town of Dhaadaar, meeting with frontline commanders and local officials to assess security conditions and boost the morale of Puntland Defence Forces stationed in the area.
The delegation, led by Interior Minister Abdi Farah Juxa, included State Minister of the Presidency Abdifatah Abdinur and the Deputy Minister of Humanitarian Affairs. Officials held meetings with military leaders, district administrators, and community elders to review progress since government troops retook the town from insurgents.
According to Puntland authorities, discussions centered on security stabilization, humanitarian access, and the rapid restoration of public services. Officials said the government’s immediate priority is to prevent militant regrouping and strengthen civilian governance in areas newly brought under control.
Minister Juxa praised the professionalism and resilience of the Puntland Defence Forces, calling the operation in Dhaadaar “a model of discipline and national duty.” He said the regional government is determined to sustain military momentum while delivering development and social programs that strengthen public trust.
Local leaders welcomed the visit, describing it as a signal of renewed partnership between the state and residents long affected by insecurity. “The people have endured years of fear,” one elder said. “Now we are ready to rebuild — with the government and the soldiers standing together.”
Puntland officials said further deployments are planned to consolidate gains across the region’s northern districts as part of a broader campaign to eliminate remaining militant pockets and restore full civil administration.
