Israel’s far-right security minister Ben-Gvir injured in car accident

By Kasim Abdulkadir:

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir found himself in the hospital after his vehicle overturned while departing from the scene of a terrorist attack in Ramla. The incident occurred as Ben-Gvir was leaving the area where a young woman had been stabbed by a terrorist, who was subsequently neutralized by an armed civilian.

According to eyewitnesses, Ben-Gvir’s car allegedly ran a red light and collided with another vehicle, causing it to flip over. Those involved, including the minister, his daughter, his driver, a bodyguard, and the other vehicle’s driver, were taken to Shamir Medical Center in Be’er Ya’akov. Fortunately, they were all reported to be in mild condition and fully conscious.

An eyewitness recounted seeing Ben-Gvir’s vehicle disregarding a traffic signal before the collision occurred. Police confirmed minor injuries to three individuals and initiated an investigation into the accident. Despite questions about the alleged red light violation, Police Commissioner Yaakov Shabtai assured a thorough examination of the incident, noting the presence of surveillance cameras in the area.

This is not the first time Ben-Gvir has faced scrutiny over traffic-related issues. In the past, he has been criticized for various violations, including driving without a seatbelt. Last August, he was involved in another collision in Jerusalem, where both vehicles sustained damage, but there were no reported injuries.

As authorities investigate the recent accident, attention remains on ensuring road safety and accountability for all motorists, regardless of their status.
